Dispatchers Wellness
We are trained for the call types, the codes, what units to send, and so much-much-much more — months-and-months-and-months of training. But even with the most well-rounded rigorous programs, even with the best trainers (shoutout to trainers!), it is difficult to train anyone for how to live with the stress that comes with this important-beautiful-life-saving-resource-providing work.
Because, as we all know, the stress does not clock out when we leave the center.
Inspired by this truth, by my experience in the 911 center, and my extensive formal education in wellbeing practices, I created Dispatchers Wellness to share the tools that helped me during the most stressful times of my career. Tools I used to help me continue doing the work of helping others and staying present for myself and my loved ones, too.
Wellness isn't a magic trick or a miracle cure.
To me, wellness is about having as many tools at our disposal as possible so that we can make it day by day in the best way possible. That is what Dispatchers Wellness is about — tools to add to the toolbox needed for being a dispatcher. Wellness tools that are practical, include mindfulness, and are scientifically researched to reduce stress, lower emotional reactivity, and help us stay present and grounded in the middle of chaos.
Open to ALL Dispatchers, from ALL States, and ALL Centers.
